How many slides for a fifteen-minute session, how to prepare for questions, and why you should rehearse at least twice.
Congress sessions usually allow ten to fifteen minutes. That is not enough to present an entire study; your aim should be to persuade the audience to read the paper.
Number of slides
One slide per minute is a good guide. Twelve slides are enough for a fifteen-minute talk: introduction, literature, method, findings and conclusion.
Preparing for questions
Write down the three questions most likely to come at the end of the session and prepare your answers. Challenges to your choice of method are the most common.
Rehearsal
Rehearse aloud at least twice, with a timer. The first run will overshoot; use the second to decide which slide to cut.
